I feel that many players should do more physically: Diaz, Robertson, Trent, Fabinho, Firminho, Eliot, Keita, Carvalho- the quality of all these players drops massively when the opponent plays tough against them, and you can sense the difference when you see how Salah, Milner, Hendo, and Thiago handles one vs one situation. I feel that we face troubles when other teams put us under pressure and aggression- take this match and the one against Salzburg as references. Footnote: I hope I hope once in a lifetime Robo put his leg to block the cross as he means it. He always makes the run, reaches the ball, and wastes his effort. A lot of crosses come from his side.

Today Firmino had a really bad performance, sloppy with the passing and lost possesion multiple times. Should have swapped him with Nunez after 30 minutes. Salah was not involved in the entire 1st half, Elliot came on and played through him and made a difference. I think Salah should try to wander more towards the middle and come for the ball some times, like Messi used to do in Barcelona, because he can hold up the ball and also pass people through the back line with world class passing. 2nd half was much better, 2 in the crossbar unlucky go next

Credit to fulham for picking up the space and going for every first ball. That's a pretty good pressing as the team shows amazing hunger. I guess over the years, we the liverpool team goes for intensity movement with attacking the loose ball and quick counter attack. But somehow despite all we kinda lack that attacking fluidity with possession play being introduced. we lacked that box to box goal scoring midfielders which still remained a question. we havent see fullbacks scoring at near post or centerback popping up scoring inside the penalty box. As compared to the first few seasons where we have a variety of midfielders like lallana, emre can, not to mention coutinho, or even the small contribution from joe allen and lucus leiva and with milner and henderson. we literally have 7 midfielders who can be tasked with controlling the midfield play and adding creativity finding one touch scoring space. We have what we have in keita, thiago and fabhino now which seem so lacking when injuries hit us hard. Is it the intensity now or the fluidity attack before. 1st game nevertheless. There is so much to improve on. lets go again.

First game of the season and Thiago is already injured 😳😐. We need another solid creative midfielder asap. Can't rely only on Thiago.

I would not say that this was our defence breaking down; this was our collective being set to the test and failing. Fulham played a good match. They beat us at our own game and deserved the point. Whats scary to see is how much better the midfield got without Thiago. He is a great footballer and I like him, but he spends to much time on the ball and his team mates are seldom on board with what he's gonna do. His passing is hit or miss. When they hit they are incredible, when they miss they are unfathomable. He also looses consentration way to often, though not necesseraly to obvious in this game. What is also clear is that our lateral displacement in defence is poor at best. It's OK minus when Robertson has to go in, but Arnold is a disaster at the back post. He, the same (though worse) as Robertson, is not good with headers, thats almost to be expected. But he is also ballwatching all the time and when someone presses him he's to often flung to the side. His placement also leaves a lot to be desired. This, of course is any time he actually is there to defend. But I wont put to much stock into that as it is a side effect of the way we play. Although he is worse than Robertson in that regard to. Way worse. Bottom line is; we are to naive. Our right side is to vulnerable and our midfield is reliant on someone who can clean up. Henderson did good today, as did Milner. Usually Fab would also, but he was not quite there tonight. Throw Thiago in and its to slow and to unpredictable. We need another Wijnaldum in the team, rather than an "artist".

One positive to draw from this game is that the Salah Nunez linkup play already looks world class. In a game like this, where we look the worst side for 90% of the game, those 2 are so world class that they pull a draw out of it.
