Djimi Traore was our MVP that season. He knew our squad couldn't cope with fighting on all fronts, so he deliberately scored an OG in the FA Cup so we would do well in Europe. He even made it look like it was an accident, so didn't get done for match-fixing; what a talented guy. I think that alone inspired our squad to Champions League glory. We couldn't have done it without Djimi.

Its frightening to think what the current front 3 ( and the two backs running wide ) would do if provided the service those 2 would offer. Good as the current mids are ... they just aren't in the same class. Really shows off that incisive pass playmaking out of midfield really is the current team's only weakness. Mixing the best of the two teams, you'd be left with only 3 players playing D ( hendo/fab, DVD, gomez/carra) . But who cares? Those 3 players are great defenders and you'd outscore everyone anyway. Never realized just how good a LB Risse was, how much of a threat. His ability to finish makes a case for him making the LIV all 21st century team @ LB over robbo.
