Holy, seeing Stevie and Torres again... So many memories, painful and happy. Coincidently those years 09/10 were the happiest of my life anyway so i do miss them a lot.

Such a shame with Aquilani and his injury problems. His link play and passing with Gerrard and connection with Torres was quality at times. Could have been a very good player with us if not for being injury prone.

Without Alonso and Hyppia, we lost direction. There were no replacements for Gerrard and Torres when they got their injuries; also N Gog became the immediate sub for Torres. Jesus, that guy gave so much nightmares. How could Benítez insist in such terrible players as him, Kirgi, Babel, Voronin? We had no bench, and It costed us a Lot.. after that, dark times came. I would have loved to see Gerrard playing under Klopp coaching...

Suarez era begins in the next episode. The 13/14 one of these is going to be incredible

After several years of competing at the top of European football, this was the season where Rafa lost his magic touch ... and the team lost Alonso and Hyypia. Too many key players had moved on, and the clubs signings continued to be duds. We wasted 20m on Aquilani, and he barely played all season. Gerrard and Torres were still pure class, but if you look at the subs benches for many matches from this season there is just nothing there ... the squad was paper thin, and Rafa seemed to have run out of ideas. Without Alonso the midfield lacked class and passing range, and without Hyypia at the back we had no defensive intelligence.

Sir Dirk Kuyt from 2007-2011 was so good and underrated. I think he would have scored more goals or at least as much as Torres if he was played as a striker like in the Dutch league. He was a work horse and so hardworking 100% commitment. Dirk Kuyt, Gerrard and Benyayoun combo was so good

Ngog, Kyrgiakos, Degen, Aquilani... next stop, the banter era.

If my eyes are not deceiving me I am sure Steven Gerrard looked like the best player in the world at times.

gerrards turn for that kuyt goal at home against stoke is amazing so underrated. for me that turn requires more skill than the famous berbatov one vs west ham

10 years ago compared to now is like night and day. Back then we were close to going into administration and now were just 6 points away from being crowned Premier League Champions...

Looking back at these highlights, I remember many fans not being happy with the Glen Johnson signing, mainly due to the price tag. But wow, he was actually good! Definitely was an improvement over playing Carragher or Arbeloa as right backs from the previous season. He would have absolutely thrived if he played in this era, or a system like Klopp's one (obviously TAA would start lol)

The campaign we fell into the abyss and falling off the map of competing with the top clubs, selling Alonso felt like a death in the family. I remember a league game we lost to Portsmouth 2-0, thats when I really felt yep we are gonna struggle for top 4. We all have to remember that it wasn't just the premier league we screwed up, we absolutely tossed our champions league campaign , getting eliminated at the group stages in a group with Lyon, Fiorentina and Debrecen. We tossed our FA Cup campaign by getting eliminated at Anfield against I think Reading in extra time. The only positive for me this season as a Greek LFC fan was finally seeing a compatriot, Kyrgiakos be the first and to this day only Greek player to play for us, he had a run of good games (except when he got sent off in the derby with Everton). Torres was still a beast, scoring great goals but unfortunately he got injured and couldnt finish the season (we maybe could of won europa league if he stayed fit). But end of the day its a team game, 2009-2010 we sucked.

Just only 3 season 2007 /2008 - 2008/2009 - 2009/2010. Torres was World Class.

Benitez never managed to bring a top quality winger in the team. At times we lacked the pace on the wings to unlock things. Imagine a Mané in that side. We would have been so so much better

Alonso leaving was a big blow and other than Johnson didn’t have a good summer window. Torres, Reina, Johnson and Kuyt are only consistent players. Dreadful seventh and getting knocked out in group stages was embarrassing but at did get to semi finals of the Europa. Rafa got sacked but after what happened next rather he stayed

We had just one world class player and sadly injuries did him and us so badly this season. Alonso, Mascherano weren’t available for us anymore. Gerrard was playing deeper but really he had passed his prime even if he was delivering everytime. Look at Spurs, Kane is Injured… Son would score. Son is Injured Kane would score.

Nothing wrong with Liverpool's attack play neither in the 09/10 or the 08/09 season, in particular the latter, when they were only four points from the title. But you don't win the league when you concede too many goals and draw 20% of the games. Two more wins in stead of two of those 11 draws, and against teams they should beat. Players like Babel had a few very good games, but was mostly bellow par.

I don't blame Torres for leaving looking at this squad worsen. Hardly replacing the high quality departures. Just like when Suarez left in 2015, the only reason people stay an extra year is Gerrard.
