While the trophies wer memorable, especially the 2001 eufa cup final,my memory of his time was that for the first time since dalglish left or so,we started to feel like the club was going in the right direction, players like hyppia and hamann wer key to that.we wer runners up in 2002,highest league position in a decade,it was nearly all of his team, more or less, that won the 05 CL,acknowledged when he was invited into the dressing room after. Gerard was a gentleman whose heart was always in liverpool since he stood on the kop in the 60's as a fan. He was as one with our fans and will always be remembered for that,he helped rebuild the club into what it is today from the mess it was in the 90's almost losing his life in the process, and ensured, with rafa, that it was robust enough to get through the early 2010's crisis aswel. We are forever in your debt sir, you'll genuinely be missed, once a red, always a red. God bless you

I truly believe that there would be no great Liverpool in 21st century without Gerard Houllier. He made us relevant again coming into an age of big money and business. I became supporter when he was a manager and I LOVED the team. We knew Man UTD, Arsenal, teams from Italy and Spain had better lineups but none of them could match the heart of Gerard's team.

Support Liverpool from around 2001, because I liked Gérard Houllier with his red scarf. I really feel the difference between Liverpool and other clubs at an early age. Because not many managers have more passion for the club than he has for Liverpool FC, so subconsciously I start to loving LFC because of him. Not because of their success on the pitch. RIP Gérard.

De beaux et émouvants hommages de la part de tous les fans de Liverpool ... Robert Herbin (Saint-Etienne in the 70's), Michel Hidalgo (French team coach from 1976 to 1984) and now Gérard Houllier. France lost three of its best football managers in 2020. What he did at Liverpool was just fantastic. He was less successful with "l'équipe de France" in 1992-1994. It was a little stain on an otherwise great career as a football manager and technician. As a Frenchman it's nice to listen to him talking in english about his passion for this great club and city.

Thank you Gerard for the memories. I remember your time in charge of LFC like it was yesterday. I think a lot of Liverpool fans are very interested and respective in the history of the club, no matter their age, and I hope that for the young who aren't too familiar with Gerard that they will look into his history and what he did for the club during his time there. Very sad news for the footballing world. Rest easy. YNWA.
