Truly the greatest captain I could have ever asked for. I never got to live the glory days of the 80s as I was born in 91 but I got to live through Stevie G dragging us through hell to some astonishing victories with some astonishing goals

A player like Stevie was perfect for his era, no social media distractions. The one position he can't play is maybe goalkeeper. What a player, what a leader. He made me fall in love with this club some 20 years ago. I loved watching just play the game.

I still remember being a kid and listening to that Sheffield Wednesday game on the radio when he scored his first goal. Actually thinking about it I have so many "I remember where I was when" moments thanks to this man. The Olympiakos game, the West Ham FA cup final, Istanbul....

Back in 2006 I started following Gerrard , I was a kid 14 years old , had to go to pub to buy access to internet and I spent it downloading Gerrard's videos and photos and eventually I became a Red , now I'm 31 and the only thing that been stable in my life is Liverpool ❤️

This man sometimes singlehandedly put us on course for Fa Cups and Champions Leagues challenges. So even on the VERY rare occasion he made a mistake he was more than forgiven. You can't point a finger that gave 110% for the club he loved and turning down chances to go elsewhere. Had an all round game second to none with an unrivalled leadership.
