He was a crucial part to our victory. When he saved that shot from like 2 yards out (I think in extra time) without looking at the ball… that’s when I truly felt we were winning the game

Calling Xabi Alonso a legende is cwazy. Man spent just about 5 years before hw went to Real Madrir where he played for 6 years. He then returned after retirement to coach at Real Madrids youth level. Crazy how your legends dont even know u like that. Mad

I’m a united fan, watched this live on tv, that and the west ham final made me forever love gerrard as the greatest english midfielder. Yes scholes was more technically gifted than stevie but stevie was the whole package. It’s just a shame all the english managers (probably due to pressure from the FA based on status) tried to shoehorn lazy, son-of-a-celebrity, ball-watching lampard alongside gerrard for england and a shame that liverpool didn’t give gerrard the amount of trophies he deserved. But a champions league and FA cup is good enough for me. Legend

Great achievement and taking nothing away from Pool but Looking at all their ages you have 32/33 year old Jaap Stam, 35 year Cafu, 37 Paulo Maldini. Nesta was still prime at 29. This may have been a factor that many people overlook coz of their class and legendary status. Think Liverpool steamrolled them and they couldn't match that Energy

As Milan fan you guys make me can't sleep well for three days after that match, I also skiped school for two days when I 1st grade junior high school back then, you can't believe how depressed I am 😖 For me it's not about who win the game, it's about the way you defeated us, that's really hurts!! 😭 But now I realize Liverpool deserved to win because you have incredible spirit and mentality even almost everyone predict Milan will win the game, hopefully someday we will meet again in final, it's always an honour play against great team like Liverpool 👏👏👏

Ac milan got the revenge it 2007, in the ucl final, 2-1, at that time Liverpool had a better 11, than the Liverpool 2005 winning team, but that's typical of football, the best team on paper, don't always win finals. YnwA.

Milan switched off at half-time, became complacent and thought the game was already won at 3-0. That was there downfall and Liverpool were never going to give it up with 45 minutes left to play. Obviously, the final result being decided on penalties is never going to be fair on one team, but given the manner of the fight back and against such quality opposition, even as a Chelsea fan I have to give it to that Liverpool team, they absolutely deserved that trophy. AC Milan, with all those star players, threw it away big time. Too many journeyman footballers who were only there for the money.

I was watching this in the Sahara hotel in las Vegas with a Tottenham fan. Not a single other person watching it in the bar.... Can't lie, I cried. Getting back to the UK and celebrating with mates was the best.

Seeing this 10 years old, first football match I ever saw, happened to flick through channels in pool room while all the adults played bingo in working men’s clubs, started with me just watch the first half then me watching the fans sing you’ll never walk alone at half time when the lads came out by the time it was penalty’s the room was filled with football fans and when we won the room went off everyone chanting, from that day there was only one team that won my heart liverpool fc

I remember bumping into Xabi at Euston station on his way to Real ti sign. He was by himself so I went and asked for a pic and obviously asked him not to leave😢. He just smiled and walked off. It broke my heart when this legend moved on.

We all love Gerrard one of if not the greatest legend of our club but managerially when everyone was talking about him and the hype to takeover after klopp left. I lived in Zagreb at the time the week leading up to the final there were hundreds of scousers there half way on their 2000 mile car journey i couldn’t believe it. They were rewarded with greatness

As a neutral fan, with no horse in this race, I cannot begin to tell you how captivating this was. This is THE greatest champs league final I ever witnessed live. Unbelievable that second half! This Liverpool team went on to break my heart a year later when they did similar against West Ham in the fa cup final. Another one that’s the greatest fa cup final I’ve ever watched And I’m already aware , nobody gives a fudge!! 😊
